Seven more weeks
Though the world doesn’t magically change when we end one year and move to the next, it’s good to make time to reflect on how far you’ve come and what you have left that you want to accomplish.
Let’s dive in with a set of questions to guide your reflection.
Setting up for the year (if you didn’t do this, no judgment here)
Did you have a goal or set of goals for 2023?
Did you pick a word of the year or define what was most important for the year?
Did you identify habits you wanted to embrace or discard for the year?
Progress and/or Adjustments during the year
Priorities and goals are likely to shift during the year. What did you add, delete, or modify?
What did you realize throughout the year that was more or less important than you thought it would be?
What changes did you make throughout the year to your plans?
What are you most proud of that you accomplished? Celebrate!
Reflecting on the remaining weeks left
How did your “word of the year” resonate/guide you through the year? Do you need to reemphasize it for these last weeks?
What is important that is still left to be done in 2023? Remember, this is not your to-do list, but the most important things you can say were part of your 2023.
During the upcoming holiday season, how do you want to feel? How do you want to show up? How do you want others to feel when they’re with you? What will it take to make those behaviors real?
There is no magic to what we accomplish within a calendar year.
Life is fluid. We can change what’s important to us when it’s time.
If we don’t accomplish a goal, we can continue it into the new year or decide that it really wasn’t a priority. The end of the year is not the end of anything besides 2023. The essential things in life continue.
As we wrap up the year, take the time to focus on what you want the rest of the year to represent for you:
Tying up loose ends
Starting something new
Celebrating what's happened and crusing into the new year
Do a true assessment of what the year has brought and what you want to see for the rest of it, but there shouldn’t be a place for judging yourself on what got done or not done. That judgment won’t serve you. What will serve you is an intentional plan on how you want to lead yourself through the rest of 2023 and into 2024.
I’d love to hear how proud you are of what has happened and what you’re excited about over the next few weeks.
