I thought I already learned this lesson… Do I need to learn it again?

During the rapid-fire questions at the end of Bréne Brown’s podcasts, one question she would ask was something like, “What lesson is the universe continuing to teach you because you haven’t mastered it yet?”

I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently because I realize I still haven’t learned the lesson well enough about leaving thinking space and room for my personal priorities in my calendar.

After leaving my corporate life, I felt I had mastered this.

✔️I blocked time on my calendar regularly.

✔️I dedicated specific time for priority activities.

✔️ I had room to breathe, strategize, plan, and reflect.

I was practicing what I was preaching.

However, my effectiveness has recently fallen off a bit. I took on additional responsibilities with one of my clients, and there are some priorities I really want to see “get over the line” in Q1. So, I’ve been looser about managing my boundaries.

👎🏻 I’ve shortened some morning workouts…wanting to get a jump on early morning work.

👎🏻 I’ve deprioritized some outreach, writing, and speaking activities.

👎🏻 I’ve stayed at my desk longer in the day than I committed to myself I would.

👎🏻 I’m doing some weekend work outside of my normal writing activities (I prefer writing content on a Saturday or Sunday…I feel more in tune with my “creative” side then.)
👎🏻 I’m not making time to prepare healthy lunches.

This weekend, I need to do a reset.

✔️ I want to prioritize the client work activities so they feel manageable, balancing my other priorities.

✔️ I want to recommit to the most important activities in my personal life for the rest of January and February.

So… I’m taking the universe’s reminder and starting to do the work again.

What lesson is the universe continuing to allow you to learn?

Melissa
