Are you defying gravity?

Last weekend, I went to New York City for the day to watch Wicked on Broadway.  Though it was the second time seeing the show, I love how it takes a twist I wasn’t expecting.   In addition to a great show and lots of laughs, I’m always struck by the song lyrics to Defying Gravity (a snippet is in the quote section).

I first heard this song probably a decade ago when a colleague forwarded it to me as inspiration for something I was working on.  Often, I search for it on my running playlist or get energized when it just happens to pop up.

  • I want to believe that I can defy gravity.

  • I want to stop the second-guessing, trust my instincts, and leap!

  • I wonder if I’m unique in this way, but I imagine that I’m not.

  • What would you try if you were ready to take that leap?

  • What is holding you back?

  • What would it take for you to trust your intuition?

These blogs target leaders who make a difference daily in their work and personal lives. To make the impact we aspire to, we must first lead ourselves.

To do this well, we need to:

  • Stop second-guessing.

  • Stop listening to other people’s rules.

  • Listen to and trust our own voice

  • And…take the leap.  Do the thing.

Can we agree that it’s time to start defying gravity?

I’d love to hear the leap that you’re ready to take.
